Alyce Reynaud, Soprano

An Orange County native, Alyce Reynaud is currently an Early Music Voice Performance Major at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, Montreal, studying Voice with Tracy Smith Bessette and Organ with Isabelle Demers. She previously served as Choral and Organ Scholar at Christ (formerly Crystal) Cathedral in Southern California. She regularly sang and played for Cathedral liturgies as an Organist, Cantor, and a member of the Cathedral Schola, Cathedral, and Diocesan Choirs while studying organ under David Ball, Cathedral Organist and vocal coaching with Lauren McCaul, Cathedral Music Administrator. As the Cathedral’s first Music Administrative Intern, she worked as an essential member of the Music Staff, supporting the day-to-day administrative needs of the Cathedral’s vast, multicultural music program. As a Soprano, Alyce has been the soloist in Rutter’s Gloria and Allegri’s Miserere Mei, and her organ playing has been featured in many of Southern California’s premiere organ venues including the Spreckels Pavillion, Disney Hall, and on the famed Hazel Wright Organ at Christ Cathedral.

Alyce began her journey at Christ Cathedral in 2016 attending the inaugural Diocesan Children’s Choir Camp and becoming a founding chorister of the Diocesan Children’s Choir. Eventually, as her interest in choral music grew, she auditioned and was accepted to the Cathedral Adult English Choir although still only a high school student. During the pandemic, she was privileged to be invited to sing in a six-person professional Schola to provide music for the Holy Week and Easter liturgies of 2020 at the Cathedral, and was chosen to sing the high solo part in Allegri’s famous Miserere, Mei. The exhilarating experience of singing the soaring high C’s in the Cathedral’s majestic acoustics inspired Alyce’s decision to pursue a career as a professional musician.

Alyce continues to seek ways to grow as a versatile musician and perform for new audiences. In addition to her singing, her playing of Messiaen on the Hazel Wright Organ has been featured in recitals for the American Guild of Organists, and as Organ Scholar she played for the regular schedule of preludes, postludes, and liturgies at the Cathedral. Alyce is an active member of the American Guild of Organists and National Pastoral Musicians, and has performed at local and national conventions of both organizations.
